3 Ways To Strengthen And Fortify Your Door

If you are a prepper, you have done everything you can to make sure that your family is going to be safe when the time comes. You may not be able to set up a bunker or have a secondary location where you can remove your family for safety, so hardening your house is going to have to be your choice. Your door can be a real weak point when it comes to security and hardening your home. There are ways that you can deal with that weak point.

Secondary Deadbolts

Deadbolts are good locks to have, they make it harder for someone to get into your house. But, if people can see your deadbolt, then they know what to expect, and may think that they can get into your house. There are ways to get around that. One is to use a deadbolt without an exterior key plate. When you look at a door with one of these deadbolts from the outside, you can't tell that the lock is there. That makes your house more secure.

Reinforced Door Jambs

Good locks on your door are all well and good, but the door jambs around your door can provide another weak point. The people trying to get into your house don't have to break your door if they can take out the walls and the jamb around your door. However, there are ways that you can work with that. There are door jamb kits that you can use that will strengthen and fortify those areas so that it's harder to get through your door by going through the jamb.

Bullet Proof Doors

People may tell you that bullet proof doors may be a little extreme, however, there are more reasons to get one of these doors put on your house than just the fact that they can stop bullets. One is that they are made with an inner core of metal. You can hide that metal with a veneer, meaning no one is going to know what your door is actually made of. That inner metal core can also make it so that it's much, much more difficult for anyone who wants to try to push their way in. They are more likely to injure themselves on your door than they are to injure your door.

When the time comes, you want to make sure your family is safe. Strengthening weak points like your door can help with that. Talk with a company like Guardian Security Structures for more information.
